CYSTI+ is a food supplement in practical sachets, based on ExocyanTM cranberry (red cranberry), D-mannose,Orafti®P95  fructo-oligosaccharides and vitamin C, useful for the well-being of the urinary tract. CYSTI+ is a useful product to fight low urinary tract infections (UTIs) such as cystitis, both at the onset of the first symptoms and as prevention, thanks to the recognized properties of type-A cranberry  proanthocyanidins (PACs) and D-mannose in preventing bacterial adhesion to the urothelium.

Low urinary tract infections (UTIs) are a very common disorder affecting more than 60% of women during their lifetime. Cystitis is a typical but not exclusive pathology of the female gender, due to an anatomical issue in fact, the female urethra is shorter than the male and for this reason can let bacteria reach the bladder. The infection manifests itself when bacteria colonize and adhere to the urethra and bladder thanks to anchoring organs called pili or fimbriae (type P and type 1) and begin to proliferate. Among the microorganisms responsible for UTIs, Escherichia Coli is the agent that causes 80-95% of cystitis cases. It is normally present in the human digestive system and becomes pathogenic if it reaches the urinary tract.

CYSTI+ contains substances with a synergistic action including:

ExocyanTM American red cranberry extract titrated with type A proanthocyanidins (PACs), which are useful against lower urinary tract infections and provide an antioxidant action. Type A PACs prevent the adhesion of pathogenic bacteria (Escherichia coli) to the walls of the urinary tract, thus avoiding the development of the infection.  PACs act according to various mechanisms of action in particular on P-type fimbriae.

D-mannose, a monosaccharide that once ingested, is poorly absorbed by the cells of our body and largely eliminated unmetabolized, through faeces and urine. It prevents the adhesiveness of the bacteria acting on the type 1 (mannose-sensitive) fimbriae of E. coli  strains, which play an important role in the early stages of the biofilm (structured communities of bacterial cells that will coat the bladder endothelium). D-mannose facilitates the detachment and subsequent elimination of E. coli with normal urinary flow and contributes to the restructuring of damaged mucous membranes.

CYSTI+ is enriched with fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS) Orafti® P95 and vitamin C. FOS are prebiotic fibres obtained by enzymatic partial hydrolysis of chicory inulin. They are undigestible substances, which reach almost unchanged the cecum and colon where they selectively stimulate the growth and metabolic activity of beneficial strains, such as bifidobacteria. These microorganisms use FOS to grow and reproduce, producing short chain organic acids (acetic, lactic and formic) that lower the pH of the intestines and inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria.

CYSTI+ can be taken at the onset of the first symptoms such as burning, frequent stimulus/difficulty in urination, or for preventive purposes. In the latter case, we recommend a cycle of at least 14 days.

Add 1 sachet (3 g) in 180 ml of water and take once a day.
