HER D-TOX+is a supplement specially designed for women. It is composed of choline, plant extracts, prebiotics and probiotics, which support the balance of the intestinal bacterial flora.

The plant extracts in this supplement include Rhubarb and Ginger.

Ginger (Zinziber officinale Roscoe, part of the Zingiberaceae family) is a plant with a variety of beneficial characteristics. The part used is the ginger root, which is rich in essential oils, gingerol, zingerone, resins and mucilage. Traditionally used as a digestive and in a tonic liquor, it has been proven to be effective in relieving nausea, even during pregnancy. It also helps relieve menstrual cycle discomfort, which is often correlated with the gastrointestinal tract. Ginger is an excellent digestive aid and its active ingredients also fight against Helicobacter pylori, the bacteria responsible for stomach ulcers. Furthermore, ginger stimulates digestion and reduces bloating.

Choline is an essential molecule for the body. However, the body is only partially able to synthesize it, so it is necessary to get it from food sources. Choline is involved in the synthesis of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, which is needed for the proper function of the parasympathetic nervous system. Acetylcholine is also involved in other essential processes such as: slowing down the heart rate, the stimulation of salivary gland secretion as well as the stimulation of gastric and pancreatic secretions. This neurotransmitter also supports intestinal peristalsis as well as all the general digestive functions. Choline is also vital for the integrity and fluidity of cell membranes because it functions as a precursor of the phospholipid phosphatidylcholine. Choline and Betaine together also contribute to normal cardiovascular function, counteracting the effects of homocysteine, which is associated with increased risk of cardiovascular problems such as atherosclerosis. Choline is involved in metabolism and transport of lipids and cholesterol. A deficiency can lead to problems such as hepatosteatosis (fatty liver disease). According to several studies, choline also has the ability to prevent damage to the liver (hepatoprotective properties) that can be caused by hepatotoxic (damaging to liver cells) drugs as well as anti-inflammatory and cardioprotective drugs. An adequate choline intake will lead to a reduction in inflammatory marker concentrations and inflammatory cytokines concentrations, both of which are involved in the inflammation process.

Rhubarb (Rheum species) is rich in polyphenols, especially flavonoids, tannins and other nutritional derivatives. This plant, when administered in small doses has a digestive function because it is able to stimulate an increase in gastric juices in the stomach. However, if it is taken in higher doses it has an effect on the intestines by inhibiting the absorption of water and electrolytes and increasing the volume of the intestinal contents. This increase in volume leads to intestinal peristalsis and has a resulting laxative effect.

Probiotics are composed of physiological bacteria, which are microorganisms that are naturally present inside the large intestine; therefore, they are easily able to get there and colonize. They can defend the mucosa from pathogenic bacteria, produce vitamins and other useful molecules and enhance colon function.
