INSUDEX+ is a product formulated with the latest active ingredients to maintain normal blood glucose levels.

It is composed of Indian barberry, Jambul, Milk thistle, Alpha lipoic acid with Alipure® and chromium picolinate.

Blood glucose concentration is called glycaemia, and it is essential that it stays within certain limits in order to maintain good health and prevent the onset of diseases such as diabetes. The hormone that allows the passage of glucose from the blood to cells is insulin; this is why it has a fundamental role when it comes to blood sugar. This step is essential to prevent blood glucose concentration from becoming too high. Not all cells need insulin for this step, but it is essential for muscles and fatty tissue. If the body's cells reduce their sensitivity to insulin, a so-called insulin resistance is created, which implies a diminished biological effect of the hormone. When glucose levels rise in the blood, the body reacts by means of a compensatory mechanism that increases insulin released by the pancreas in order to normalise glucose levels (hyperinsulinemia). This mechanism manages to recreate the initial balance. In advanced cases, pancreas cells are unable to adjust insulin synthesis, which leads to an increase in postprandial glycaemia. In the established phase, hyperglycaemia is also seen when fasting.

Insulin resistance is mainly caused by hormonal factors such as a defect in the production of insulin, or, more frequently, an excess synthesis of hormones such as cortisol, adrenaline and glucagon, which are able to antagonise the action of insulin.

Insulin resistance results in:

  • Increased fatty acids in plasma;
  • Decreased glucose uptake at a muscular level, resulting in a decrease in glycogen reserves;
  • Greater synthesis of glucose by the liver and a decrease of the processes that inhibit it, with the consequent increase of fasting glycaemic levels;
  • Possibility of developing type II diabetes due to decreased pancreatic cell function for insulin production.

    Indian barberry is a thorny shrub from which berberine is obtained, an alkaloid with hypoglycaemic properties. Berberine is able to reduce the liver’s production of glucose, increase insulin sensitivity and glucose absorption in the blood by cells and reduce blood glucose levels. Berberine primarily acts by increasing the expression of insulin receptors, with consequent increased sensitivity towards this hormone and the reduction of insulin resistance. The increase in cell insulin sensitivity is attributable to the improvement of glucose transporters (GLUT1). Another feature is its ability to activate AMPK (adenosine monophosphate protein kinase), an enzyme that participates in the regulation of the energy metabolism, food intake and tissue sensitivity in response to insulin.

    Several studies show that the association of berberin and silymarin increases the bioavailability of berberine and improves the HOMA index, which is used to evaluate insulin resistance. In addition, silymarin extracted from milk thistle has potent antioxidant and hepatoprotective properties, which are useful for the proper functioning of the liver.

    In support of these actions, INSUDEX+ uses Jambul extract (Syzygium cumini, fam. Myrtaceae). Jambul is particularly rich in active ingredients such as anthocyanins, ellagic acid and quercetin. Its main representative in this case is jambolina glycoside, which is able to control the abnormal conversion of starch into sugar in the event of increased glucose production. It plays a hypoglycaemic role at a peripheral level due to the inhibition of adenosine-deaminase and α-glucosidase enzymes. Signalling of the diminished energy level of the resulting cells leads to an improvement of glucose sensitivity mechanisms and its reduced intestinal absorption.

    Alipure® is an alpha lipoic acid with high quality standards, obtained by an enzymatic process that does not use solvents. Its best known actions include its strong antioxidant power, which is also linked to its ability to regenerate antioxidant agents such as vitamin C and increased levels of glutathione. It neutralises free radicals by attenuating oxidative stress that causes ageing and contributes to the onset of disease. It plays a significant role on controlling blood glucose, a result that it is able to obtain thanks to its ability to increase insulin sensitivity by promoting glucose uptake. Alpha lipoic acid is a fundamental element for the body due to its contribution in the transformation of glucose and fats into energy.

    INSUDEX+ also contains chromium picolinate, which is the most bioavailable form of chromium. Fifteen clinical trials with diabetics have shown that chromium picolinate has positive effects in one or more of the standard parameters used for diabetic monitoring (fasting glycaemia, postprandial glycaemia, fasting insulin, glycated haemoglobin, etc.), without side effects. Chromium is a component of the glucose tolerance factor (GTF), and increases sensitivity to insulin. As such, it contributes to the reduction of both hyperglycaemia and hyperinsulinemia, assisting in the maintenance of normal blood glucose levels.


    DIRECTIONS FOR USAGE: Take 2 tablets per day, one before each of the two main meals.

    WARNINGS: Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. The product contains lipoic acid: in case of hypoglycemic therapy, take only under close medical supervision.
