POST MATCH+

POST MATCH + offers all the essential nutrients to the body for a prompt recovery after exercise of long duration and high intensity.

Description

Dextrose, isomaltulose and corn maltodextrins make up a carbohydrate mix ready to restore the muscle glycogen exhausted during the activity. The whey protein isolate is the most pure and fast-absorbing; it can suppress muscle catabolism, promoting the reconstruction of the fibres, and stimulate protein synthesis and muscle growth. Branched amino acids BCAA, leucine, isoleucine and valine must be taken through the diet or supplementation because our body cannot produce them. Present in a 2:1:1 ratio, they are metabolized directly into the muscle and support protein activity. In fact, their function is reducing the harm caused by intense exercise, decrease the feeling of tiredness and speed up recovery time. Inevitable in a post workout formula is glutamine. After prolonged physical activity, its blood and muscle levels, decrease significantly and need to be restored. Capable of fighting the overtraining syndrome, glutamine has an anti-catabolic effect, promotes muscle glycogen supplies, stimulates the secretion of the growth hormone (GH), is essential for our immune system, supports liver detoxification, has a buffer effect and plays an important antioxidant role.

The choline used in POST MATCH+ is Balchem’s VitaCholine®. VitaCholine® is the premier source of choline, made to the highest standards in order to deliver relevant and compelling health benefits. Considered as the global leader in choline, VitaCholine® has long been acknowledged as the quality choice for use in dietary supplements. Choline is an essential dietary nutrient. It supports cardiovascular health, the normal liver function and fat metabolism, it facilitates healthy metabolism and it helps the brain send faster messages throughout the nervous system. VitaCholine® is a verified Non-GMO project and is the first and only choline to attain USP Verified Dietary Ingredient status.  It also meets several important industry standards such as the most current USP (United States Pharmacopeia) monograph, the most current FCC (Food Chemicals Codex) monograph, it’s kosher and halal and it meets California Prop 65 requirements .Choline is involved in the synthesis of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, which is needed for the proper function of the parasympathetic nervous system. Acetylcholine is also involved in other essential processes such as: slowing down the heart rate, the stimulation of salivary gland secretion as well as the stimulation of gastric and pancreatic secretions. This neurotransmitter also supports intestinal peristalsis as well as all the general digestive functions. Choline is also vital for the integrity and fluidity of cell membranes because it functions as a precursor of the phospholipid phosphatidylcholine. Choline and Betaine together also contribute to normal cardiovascular function, counteracting the effects of homocysteine, which is associated with increased risk of cardiovascular problems such as atherosclerosis. Choline maintains normal liver function through the role it plays in fat metabolism. The liver produces VLDL, very low density lipoproteins, as a way to export fats out of the liver for storage or to muscles for immediate conversion into energy. VLDLs are composed of an inner core of lipids and an outer layer of phospholipids. As a precursor of the phospholipid phosphatidylcholine, free choline is a required raw material to make VLDL. Without adequate levels of free choline, transport slows and fats will begin to build up within the liver. According to several studies, choline also has the ability to prevent damage to the liver (hepatoprotective properties) that can be caused by hepatotoxic (damaging to liver cells) drugs as well as anti-inflammatory and cardioprotective drugs. An adequate choline intake will lead to a reduction in inflammatory marker concentrations and inflammatory cytokines concentrations, both of which are involved in the inflammation process.

POST MATCH+ is also enriched by the presence of MCT, i.e. medium chain fatty acids. These are saturated fatty acids whose chain has from 6 to 12 carbon atoms, and therefore are considered to be medium length. Compared with long-chain fatty acids, they are digested in less time and converted more rapidly into energy by the mitochondrion. An innovative component in the formulation of POST MATCH+ is ginger. Beneficial to the immune system, it seems to have an analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect as well as an antioxidant and toning action, promotes the digestion and facilitates the absorption of proteins and carbohydrates, both vital nutrients for the recovery after heavy and long-lasting physical effort. Potassium, sodium and magnesium in citrate form are indispensable to restore the losses caused mainly by sweating and are essential to regulate the basic acid balance. Their citrate form can counteract the acidosis caused by exercise and fight fatigue and exhaustion. B vitamins cannot be missing because they play important roles in energy metabolism and provide valid immune system support.
